Truck driver steals N2.9m container at Kirikiri

Man steals vital documents, laptop from Naval officer
A 44-year-old truck driver, Christian Ughefuna, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a container worth N2.9 million at Kirikiri.

Ughefuna is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 18, 2018 at about 10:11am at Kirikiri, Apapa.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one PIL container, serial no: PCIU-899015-2 valued at N2. 9 million property of one Linus Ike,” Obongha said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287 and 168(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate, O. A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N800, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must be gainfully employed and must furnish the court with evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

One of sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant.

She adjourned the case till November 20, 2018 for mention.
