Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

Two men, Shaibu James (36) and Eko Ekpo (36) were on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 100 pieces of iron rods at Apapa.

James and Ekpo are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the two defendants committed the offences on July 19, 2018 at Apapa.

“The defendants conspired among themselves and one other at large to steal 100 pieces of iron rods valued at N180,000 property of Ndukwa Group of Companies,” Obongha said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till August 10, 2018 for mention.
