Woman docked for assault in Apapa

A 29-year-old woman identified as Oluchi Ede was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting another woman over phone memory card.

Ede is facing a two-count charge of felony and assault.

The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on September 18, 2019 at about 2pm at Railway Line, Ijora-Badia, Apapa.

“The defendant committed felony to wit occasioning harm by assaulting one Ada Efoke by using her fingers to tear her (Efoke’s) two breasts which caused her physical injury,” Ekpo said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 412 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

Magistrate Adegboyega Popoola granted her N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of two years’ tax payment to Lagos State Government.

The Magistrate adjourned the case till October 8, 2019 for trial.
