World’s largest PCTC enters service

Höegh Autoliners has taken delivery of Höegh Target, the world’s largest Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessel. The vessel has a deck space of 71,400 square meters and a capacity to carry 8,500 car equivalent units.

Höegh Target is the first in a series of six Post Panamax vessels that come under the company’s New Horizon design. The remaining five PCTCs in the series are expected for delivery throughout the next 18 months, reports say.

The vessel has a higher door opening than Höegh Autoliners’ current vessels, that enables cargo up to 6.5 metres high and 12 metres wide to be loaded.

Extra ramp strength allows for cargo weighing up to 22 tonnes to be loaded over the side ramp and cargo weighing up to 375 tonnes over the stern ramp.

Höegh Target will service the East Asia – Europe trade.
