China will encourage mergers and consolidations among central government-held shipping companies, the Head of Asset Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), Xiao Yaqing said on Tuesday.
Yaqing was speaking at a forum on the sidelines of China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.
