A 30-year-old man, Odion Okun, who pleaded not guilty on charges of allegedly attempting to stowaway aboard a South African-bound vessel from the Lagos Port Complex (LPC), Apapa, has been remanded in Kirikiri Prisons by an Apapa Magistrate’s Court.
Okun had been charged for the alleged offence under the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State 2011.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Shonubi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
However, Okun was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, pending when he fulfills his bail condition.
Okun had been charged for the alleged offence under the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State 2011.

The defendant was allegedly discovered during routine checks by officials in a container, where he had hidden aboard the MV Ernie about departing Nigeria for South Africa from the LPC.
The Edo-born defendant, when apprehended, allegedly confessed that he was going for greener pasture in South Africa and had decided, since he had no money, to hide inside the ship for the trip.
Okun, it was learnt, had immediately been handed over to the Police, which wasted no time in charging him to court for allegedly trying to embark on an illegal trip.
