I am very impressed and proud of LADOL - NPA Managing Director

 

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mallam Habib Abdullahi has commended the management of Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base (LADOL) for its huge contributions to the Nigerian maritime Industry and the Nigerian economy.

Abdullahi who was speaking shortly after inspecting LADOL’s facilities along Badagry channel, Lagos harbours assured the company of the NPA’s support and collaboration in the areas of security, pilotage, and safe channels among others.

He noted that if there are other companies in Nigeria that have contributed immensely to the Nation’s economy like LADOL, Nigeria’s economy would have developed more than it has today.

“I am very impressed and very proud as a Nigerian that a company owned by a Nigerian is doing well. As a landlord and technical regulator, NPA will continue to encourage all other companies in the Maritime Sector undertaking similar ventures,” Abdullahi said.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of LADOL, Dr. Amy Jadesimi said LADOL is Nigeria’s first and only wholly owned indigenous deep offshore logistics base which provides world class solution in areas of deep offshore support for maritime and gas projects, agriculture and fabrications.

She said LADOL has a vision of providing growth opportunity that is aimed at changing the entire economic landscape of the country through the provision of 5,000 direct jobs and 50,000 indirect jobs for Nigerians, thereby helping Nigeria to join the G20 group of nations.

Jadesimi expressed appreciation to the management of NPA for its support and cooperation over the years, which she said has given LADOL the opportunity it enjoys at present.

She listed ongoing projects in LADOL to include a passenger terminal with an emergency response facility with capacity to accommodate 1,000 passengers which is due to be completed in 2017. She also said an integrated quay wall with a built design of 13.5 metres draught and 500 metres length is due for completion in February 2016.

While assuring that LADOL is determined to ensure that Nigeria attains a high level of economic development like Brazil, Norway and China in maritime trade, Jadesimi called for more collaboration from NPA and indeed Nigerians, noting “the success of Nigeria depends on working together”.

Top management staff of NPA that accompanied the Managing Director on the tour of the facility include the General Manager Public Affairs, Capt. Iheanacho Ebubeogu; General Manager Marine and Operations, Abdullahi Goje; General Manager Capital Projects, Engr. A.R.Mohammed and, General Manager Physical Planning and Development, Yusuf Ahmed.
