The Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN) has elected a new set of executives to pilot its affairs. The executives were elected at the 7th annual general meeting of the association which took place in Lagos.
Those elected at the AGM, which took place immediately after a workshop organized by MAAN, included Dr. Omogbai Omo-Eboh, President; Mr. Adewale Jones, Vice President; Sir Osuala Nwagbara, Honorary Secretary; Mrs. Oritsematosan Edodo-Emore, Treasurer; and Chief Gbola Akinola, ex-officio member.
Other members of the executive council are Mrs. Doyin Rhodes-Vivour, Mrs. Funke Agbor.
Mr. Uche Nwokedi, Mr. Mike Igbokwe SAN, Mrs. Jean Chiazor-Anishere, and Mr. Bodunrin Adewole.
Outgoing President of MAAN, Chief Gbola Akinola, in his handover report gave a brief overview of the association’s activities and achievements since he took office on December 3, 2010. He highlighted the various enlightenment programmes the association had organized in line with the objective of enlightening stakeholders in the maritime industry on arbitration and ADR as a viable alternative to litigation.
Akinola noted that since he took office, MAAN had successfully organized three annual practical maritime dispute resolution seminars and three annual one-day workshops based on topical issues in maritime arbitration.
Akinola expressed his gratitude to the Advisory Board, the outgoing Executive Council and all members for their support and encouragement throughout the years.
