The Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reiterated its confidence in the Nigerian Navy (NN) for playing a significant role in stamping out the menace of piracy and sea robbery in the nation’s waterways, sustaining economic gains.
Speaking at a reception organised for Senior Course 35/12 Department of Maritime Warfare of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Kaduna at NPA Corporate Headquarters, NPA HOUSE, Marina, Lagos, the Managing Director, Mallam Habib Abdulahi, who was represented by the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Engr. David Omonibeke, said that the visit was timely and strategic, and assured the visitors of full cooperation at all times ,while also seeking the Navy’s understanding in all areas of the NPA’s responsibility.
Earlier in his speech, the leader of the students’ delegation, Commodore Kenneth. Ati-John said the theme of the visit is to “improve maritime inter-agency cooperation for effective maritime agencies and economic development.”
Ati-John promised that the Navy and other arms of the nation’s Armed Forces would help in the area of safety and security of the maritime industry.
He affirmed that the NPA is a major stakeholder in the maritime industry that has made invaluable contributions to the nation.
