An indigenous player in the nation’s maritime industry, Sifax Group Nigeria Limited, has rewarded five of its staff for the 10 years meritorious service each of them has rendered to the organisation.
The Group, last Friday, conferred Sifax Long Service Award on the Head, Billing Department, Sifax OffDock, Mrs. Evelyn Ogom Elue; an Office Assistant, Mrs. Gladys Onuoha; a Dispatch Rider, Mr Solomon Fatoyinbo; a Driver, Mr Tajudeen Yisua; and an Operations Manager, Mr Olanrewaju Agbabiaka.
Speaking at the ceremony, held at the Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Sifax Group, Barrister Taiwo Afolabi, who was represented by Dr. Fola Rogers-Saliu, General of Djibouti Consulate, said that the long service award was an opportunity for Sifax Group to celebrate commitment, excellence, painstaking, happiness and challenges, as well as acknowledging the spirit to serve among staff.
Afolabi, who commended the awardees for their dedication to work, challenged other staff to put in their best for the overall growth of the Group.
Earlier in his speech, Executive Director Administration of the Group, Dr.Phil Ofulue, said that the ceremony was put in place in recognition of outstanding contribution of the awardees to the Group who he said were deserving of the credit.
He noted that for the awardees to have served the Group for 10 years showed that they imbibed the Group’s axiom of 3Ds – Discipline, Decency and Diligence.
“In Sifax, what makes a staff long is discipline, decency and diligence. These awardees have shown high level of discipline, decency and diligence in their work and they are being rewarded today. I want to encourage all workforce of the Group to imbibe these three Ds,” Ofulue said.
He explained that the Group had paid compensation to the family of staff who died on duty, adding that the Group will be rewarding outstanding staff in all departments at end of each year.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, who received certificates and gifts of refrigerators, Elue thanked the Group for recognising them, saying the award would gear them to contribute more to the development of the Group.
