13 key points to note in eased lockdown

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, on Monday in Abuja, at the 38th joint national briefing of the committee, announced some measures aimed at gradually easing the lockdown imposed on the country by President Muhammadu Buhari to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Below are the key points to note from the new measures:

  1. Nationwide curfew remains in place, timing now 10pm to 4am
  2. Full opening of financial sector – normal working hours to resume today
  3. Restricted opening of places of worship (regular church & mosque services only), to be based on state government protocols
  4. Interstate travel remains prohibited except for goods and essential travels
  5. Gathering of more 20 persons remains prohibited outside of workplaces and religious services
  6. Aviation industry to start developing protocols for domestic flights to possibly resume from June 21
  7. Hotels allowed to reopen
  8. Restaurants outside of hotels must remain closed for eat-in —to operate takeout services only
  9. Bars, gyms, cinemas, nightclubs, parks remain closed until further evaluation
  10. All schools to remain closed until further evaluation
  11. Offices must maintain 2metres physical distancing and 75% maximum capacity
  12. Safety guidelines to be implemented/enforced by state governments
  13. All permitted openings (hotels, religious services etc) to maintain non-pharmaceutical interventions (masks, sanitizers/hand washing, 2metres distancing, capacity limits, etc).
