The police on Thursday arraigned two men – Egbo Anthony (23) and Chidiebere Ifeachor (22) – before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two phones and other vital documents belonging to one licensed Customs agent, Osinachi Chinekwe in Lagos.
The defendants are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyobosa Onaiwu told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 20, 2019 at about 6pm at Baruwa Street, Kuje-Amuwo, Lagos.
“The defendants conspired together with others at large to steal the following items; one Infinix camera phone valued at N70,000, one Inifnix Note 2 camera phone valued at N50,000, one driver’s licence, one Access Bank ATM card and a wallet containing some vital documents, properties of one Osinachi Chinekwe,” Onaiwu said.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate S.O Abioye granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government. They must also be blood relations to the defendants.
The case was adjourned till April 15, 2019 for mention.
