About 200 foreign exhibitors are billed to attend this year’s Lagos international trade fair organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The 10-day trade event themed, “Positioning the Nigerian economy for diversification and sustainable growth,” is also expected to attract about 2,000 local exhibitors at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.
The Chairman, Trade Promotion Board, LCCI, Mr. Sola Oyetayo, said foreign exhibitors are expected from such countries as China, Japan, India, Indonesia, Ghana, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Turkey, Cameroun, Kenya, Singapore, Jamaica, Republic of Benin, South Africa, including countries in the European Union and the North America.
“Quite a number of these exhibitors have indicated their interest to participate in the Fair this year. The indigenous exhibitors are also registering in large number to take advantage of the market naturally created by the population of visitors to the Fair. The Corporate Fair is a response to the demand of big corporations and foreign exhibitors who are more interested in networking and business matchmaking,” he said.
The 2016 Lagos International Trade Fair, slated for November 4 to 13, 2016 will also feature Lagos Creative Industry Fair in recognition of the contribution of the sector to the Nigerian economy.
“You will agree with me that; this is one sector that should be given adequate attention by all stakeholders in view of its impact on the nation’s Gross Domestic Product,” he added.
He explained the chamber has divided the fair ground into different sectors, as exhibitors will be allocated into spaces based on their sector to improve access to exhibitors.
“The Chamber is engaging well-tested and experienced vendors and third party service providers to ensure adequate delivery of values to exhibitors, visitors and other stakeholders at the fair.
“This year, we are collaborating with various public sector organizations in various key areas to improve exhibitors’ and visitors’ experiences. These organizations include the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Immigration service, Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Commission, Standards Organization of Nigeria, National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control, Lagos State Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA),” Oyetayo said.
