CMA CGM, Google Forge Strategic Partnership to Revolutionise Shipping with AI

In a significant move to transform the shipping and logistics industry, French container and logistics company CMA CGM has partnered with Google to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) across its global operations. This collaboration aims to enhance efficiency, responsiveness, and adaptability in shipping and logistics, leading to faster and more responsive customer service.

According to Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM, “This partnership marks a crucial step in our transformation strategy, leveraging Google’s AI solutions to empower our employees’ decision-making and drive innovation with tangible benefits for our staff and customers.”

The partnership will focus on optimising vessel routes, container handling, and inventory management, minimising costs and carbon footprints.

CEVA Logistics, CMA CGM’s logistics arm, will pioneer data-driven logistics, starting with smart warehouse management using Google technology.

The collaboration will also extend to CMA Media, providing a competitive edge in the media landscape.

Through this partnership, CMA CGM aims to revolutionise the shipping industry, enhancing customer service and reducing costs.

The collaboration is part of CMA CGM’s broader strategy to transform its business through AI innovation, following investments in Mistral AI, PoolSide, and Dataiku, and the launch of the open science lab, Kyutai.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, emphasised the potential of AI to transform industries, stating, “By combining CMA CGM’s expertise with Google’s AI tools and secure infrastructure, we can digitally transform operations and revolutionise the shipping and logistics industry.”
