LASWA Recovers Two Victims of 3rd Mainland Bridge Accident 

Two dead, four rescued as boat capsizes in Ikorodu

 

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) Search and Rescue Team, in collaboration with the Marine Police, local fishermen, and others, has recovered the remains of two passengers involved in the accident that occurred on the 3rd Mainland Bridge on 23rd August 2025.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of LASWA and made available to SHIPS & PORTS.

According to the statement, in the early hours of Saturday, 23rd August, a Toyota Camry saloon car plunged into the Lagos Lagoon from the 3rd Mainland Bridge, inward Iyana Iworo.

The LASWA Search and Rescue team responded promptly upon receiving the distress call and confirmed that the vehicle was conveying a female passenger, identified as Aisha, aged between 25 and 35. Her body was swiftly recovered by local divers and handed over to her family.

Following extended search operations, the second victim, identified as Mr Chado Daniel Danladi, aged 31, a resident of Oremeta Street, Off Opebi Link Bridge, Ikeja, and colleague of the first victim, was also recovered and subsequently released to his family.

This tragic incident underscores both the effectiveness of LASWA’s coordinated emergency response and the invaluable support of local communities, which together strengthen Lagos State’s capacity to manage waterway emergencies.
