President Bola Tinubu has described former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, as a loyal party man, trusted associate whose leadership, intellect, and integrity have remained invaluable to the development of Osun State and Nigeria.
Oyebamiji resigned as NIWA Managing Director last week to contest the Osun State gubernatorial election under the auspices of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, and titled “President Tinubu Greets Seasoned Banker, Politician Munirudeen Oyebamiji (AMBO) at 60”, the President extolled Oyebamiji’s contributions to governance and national development as he marked his 60th birthday.
President Tinubu described the celebrant as “a steady hand in Nigeria’s financial and political landscape,” noting that his work ethic and leadership style exemplify the ideals of responsible public service.
According to the President, Oyebamiji’s leadership qualities and professional trajectory have continued to make a significant impact in Osun and beyond.
The statement reads in part, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu extends his warm greetings to a seasoned banker, accomplished administrator, distinguished politician, and All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), on the occasion of his 60th birthday anniversary.
“President Tinubu describes the celebrant as a steady hand in Nigeria’s financial and political landscape. The President notes that his leadership, intellect, and integrity have remained invaluable to the development of Osun State and the nation at large.”
The President highlighted Oyebamiji’s contributions to the banking sector, where he built a strong reputation for professionalism and excellence, as well as his service in public administration — first as Commissioner in Osun State and later as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
He noted that Oyebamiji’s public career has been defined by humility, hard work, and unwavering dedication to the common good.
Tinubu further described Oyebamiji as “a loyal party man, a trusted associate, and a patriotic Nigerian whose exemplary work and ethic reflect the ideals of responsible leadership.”
The President prayed for continued health, strength, and greater accomplishments for the Osun APC chieftain as he marks the milestone age.
“As you celebrate this landmark birthday, I pray that Almighty Allah grants you more years in good health, renewed strength, and greater service to Nigeria,” the statement added.
