The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has renewed its pledge to strengthen the country’s non-oil export sector by streamlining port processes and improving links between ports and the northern hinterland.
Speaking at the NPA Special Day during the Kano International Trade Fair, NPA Managing Director, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, praised KACCIMA for sustaining the fair’s status as a global business hub and highlighted Kano’s strategic role as a gateway to regional and landlocked markets.
Dantsoho said Kano’s strong agro-allied base aligns with the NPA’s mission to connect local producers to international markets, noting that the Authority has introduced key reforms to boost export competitiveness.
He pointed to the establishment of Export Processing Terminals, developed with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and other partners, which offer integrated facilities for consolidation, documentation, packaging and certification of goods, helping to eliminate bottlenecks and bureaucratic delays.
He added that the NPA is pushing full automation through the Ports Community System, a precursor to the National Single Window, which will integrate all trade stakeholders on one digital platform.
These reforms, he said, are designed to ensure value creators across Nigeria can access global markets with minimal friction.
He encouraged traders and investors at the fair to engage with NPA’s business development team and take advantage of its real-time digital services, stressing the Authority’s commitment to supporting SMEs and ensuring seamless export procedures.
