Suspected Lakurawa Gunmen Allegedly Kill Two Customs Officers in Kebbi

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Lakurawa group have allegedly killed two Customs officers during an attack on security checkpoints in Tuga community, Bagudu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The attack reportedly took place in the early hours of Wednesday when the assailants stormed two checkpoints in the area, catching security personnel off guard.

Sources said one of the victims, described as a senior officer, was burnt to death after the attackers allegedly set fire to the building where he was sleeping.

According to local accounts, the gunmen arrived in a truck disguised as traders transporting livestock before launching the assault.

The incident is believed to be the latest in a string of violent attacks linked to the Lakurawa group, which has heightened security concerns across parts of north-western Nigeria.

Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Customs Command, Mustapha Mubarak, said the command would release an official statement once full details of the incident had been confirmed.
