President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola, on his 72nd birthday, praising his contributions to Nigeria’s maritime sector and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Oyetola, a former governor of Osun State, was born in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of the state, on 29 September 1954.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended Oyetola for his stewardship of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, particularly efforts to unlock the economic potential of Nigeria’s maritime industry.
The President said initiatives implemented under Oyetola’s leadership had helped improve efficiency in the maritime sector, attract investment, create jobs and strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global maritime industry.
Tinubu also praised Oyetola’s experience in public administration and governance, describing him as a “renowned technocrat, shrewd administrator and committed patriot”.
Oyetola began his career in the insurance industry before entering public service as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Osun State. He later became governor of the state in 2018.
“Your years of service to our country as an insurance icon, public servant and political leader demonstrate your commitment to the development and prosperity of Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
“As Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, you brought experience and dedication to the task of transforming our maritime sector into a major driver of economic growth, investment and employment. I commend your contributions to the Renewed Hope Agenda, and I encourage you to remain steadfast in the service of our nation.”
Tinubu prayed that Almighty God would grant Oyetola good health, wisdom and many more years of service to Nigeria and humanity.
