The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun I Area Command, Idiroko, has seized smuggled goods worth N3.15 billion, including 4,013 wraps of cannabis valued at N1.12 billion, 13 foreign-used vehicles and thousands of other prohibited items.
Acting Area Controller, Abdulhamid Ibrahim, said the seizures followed intelligence-led operations targeting smuggling, adding that the cannabis posed serious risks to public health, young people and national security.
Other seizures included foreign rice, pasta, condensed milk, 950 litres of petrol, second-hand clothing, footwear and tyres, as well as 27,831 unregistered medicines and 321 military camouflage caps.
Ibrahim said five intercepted trucks, valued at N1.235 billion, would be forfeited to the Federal Government under the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating smuggling, protecting public health and safeguarding national security.
