A 29-year-old man, identified as Chukwuemeka Kingsley Ugwu was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing phone and money from one clearing agent, Adeola Seyi Tawio in Apapa.
Ugwu is facing a three-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 22, 2018 at about 6:20pm along Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Olodi Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one Samsung Galaxy Prime valued N86,000 property of one Adeola Seyi Taiwo,”Aigbokhan said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant fraudulently transferred N300,000 from the bank accounts of one Adeola Seyi Taiwo between May 25 and May 28, 2018 at Olodi Apapa.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties. The sureties must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government. One of the sureties according to the Magistrate must be resident in Lagos.
She adjourned the case till July 25, 2018 for mention.
