Chairman Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Nze Alloysius Igwe, has lamented the lack of operational facilities at MMIA as hindrance to efficient cargo clearance.
Igwe, during an interview with SHIPS & PORTS DAILY, said that the airport lack basic operational facilities such as a cargo trans-loading bay and rest facilities for agents operating at the port.
He said ANLCA leaders at the airport are working towards completing construction work on the chapter secretariat which will serve as a rest place for members. He expressed hope that the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) will respond accordingly to stakeholders’ demands to put in place a cargo trans-loading bay for easy movement of cargo from the port.
Meanwhile, the ANLCA National Executives and Board of Trustees (BoT) members paid an unscheduled visit to the chapter on Wednesday.
According to the ANLCA National President, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, the purpose of the visit was “to discuss with the chapter executives on areas of operational exigencies and to see the progress made in the construction of the chapter secretariat.”
