The Governing Council of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS) on Thursday elected Andy Isichei as its sixth President. He takes over from Chief Adebayo Sarumi.

A former Vice President of the NCS, Isichei is businessman with interests in haulage logistics, dredging, oil and gas. He was Managing Director of the defunct National Clearing and Freight Agency (NACFA).

Shortly after the election, the new NCS President promised to take the Chamber to a higher level working together with the newly elected Vice President, Alhaji Tijani Ramallan and all the members of the board.

The Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, he said, will continue to foster cooperation, understanding and effective partnerships with all sectors of the Nigerian maritime sector including relevant government bodies and regulatory agencies, the legislature, International Oil Companies (IOCs), indigenous stakeholders and interested parties within the Nigerian maritime industry.

Obiageli Obi has also been appointed Director-General of the NCS. She replaces Mrs. Ify Anazonwu-Akerele.
