Bourbon yesterday announced its 500th vessel in service, Bourbon Evolution 806, giving it the largest fleet of offshore vessels owned or on bareboat charter in the world.
The DP3 vessel is the sixth in the Evolution 800 series of Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) vessels.
“We are delighted with the delivery of this 500th vessel, which reflects our commitment to provide the means to continue our development and to best serve the needs of our clients,” said coo Gael Bodénès.
Bodénès cited Bourbon’s standardisation strategy as the reason for the success: “We are now realising the fruits of seeds sown over several years when we invested in a series of standardised vessels to achieve a global leadership position in our market.”
The company has a further 34 vessels on order for delivery by end 2015, including four further Evolution 800 vessels currently under construction.
