A British warship on Thursday arrived Lagos on a four-day visit. The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Ilesanmi Alade said the visit of the vessel provides an opportunity for both Nigerian Navy and the British Navy to strengthen ties.
He spoke while receiving the crew of the vessel in office, explaining that the visit of the HMS Portland has demonstrated the Royal British Navy’s commitment to the West African sub region.
The vessel known as the HMS Portland is a Type 23 frigate of the British Royal Navy. She is the eighth ship to bear the name and is the fifteenth and penultimate ship of the ‘Duke’ class of frigates, and is named the Dukedom of Portland.
