A truck with registration number XU 68 KR carrying two twenty-foot containers yesterday fell on a moving bus along the ever busy Apapa-Oshodi expressway in Lagos.
The accident, which happened at about 7a.m. at Toyota bus stop, led to a traffic gridlock on airport road from Toyota bus stop and around Ajao Estate.
Although there was no reported case of death, the drivers of the truck and the bus were badlly injured and were said to have been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. The truck and the bus were also badly damaged.
Eye witnesses said the truck was coming from Mile 2 area towards the Murtala Muhammed International Aiport road when the accident occured.
The eyewitness said the brake of the truck failed while the the driver was trying to manouver to link the airport road from Toyota bus-stop. He subsequently rammed the truck into a pillar causing it to summersault, upturning the two heavy containers it was carrying on the bus.
As at the time of filing this report, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Police were seen frantically controlling traffic and trying to open up the road to enable vehicles to pass thorough
