An Apapa Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos on Monday slammed two years imprisonment on a dismissed soldier, Ibrahim Uba, for impersonation.
The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 13, 2019 at about 11:30pm at Mile 2, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.
“The defendant impersonated himself as a member of the Nigerian Armed Forces by wearing the Nigerian Army camouflage vest, having deserted and been dismissed from the Nigerian Army since February 2018,” Babatope said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 77 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge against him, consequent upon which Magistrate Remilekun Ojodun sentenced him to two years imprisonment.
