The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, CRFFN, has concluded plans to train 300 registered Freight Forwarding Practitioners in Professional Certificates.
The courses are FIATA Diploma and Higher Diploma in Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management programs for the 2015 academic session.
The Council’s Registrar Sir Mike Jukwe, said this at CRFFN Headquarters, Apapa, Lagos, during an interactive session with the leadership of the accredited associations on Freight Forwarding Reform.
He said the time when industry practitioners were looked down upon was over and urged them to avail themselves of the educational opportunities provided by the council.
“I advise you to acquire in-depth knowledge of the industry in order to compete favourably in the comity of nations.”
He therefore, called on the leadership of the accredited associations to hasten-up in the submissions of their nominees for the programmes which he said would launch the industry into a new era of standardization and professionalism.
Sir Jukwe while commending the ingenuity of the freight forwarding practitioners in the discharge of their functions and encouraged them to key-into the numerous educational reform programmes provided by the council.
The reform programmes according to him, are the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme, (MCDP), the Executive Diploma in Freight Forwarding and other short and medium term, refresher courses to be organized by the Nigerian Institute of Freight Forwarders in collaboration with the accredited associations.
He described the programs as pragmatic and said they would improve and broaden the knowledge, skills and competencies of the practitioners, adding that MCDP would serve as a criteria for the issuance and renewal of their Annual Freight Forwarders’ Practitioners License being issued by the Council.
Speaking earlier, the National President of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA, Prince OlayiwolaShittu expressed satisfaction over the developmental strides of the council and enjoined its members to identify with the reform programme.
Also in his contributions, the National President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, AGAFF, Dr. Eugene Nweke lauded the efforts of the council in repositioning the industry and called for collective support of practitioners for the council.
