Personnel of the Seme Border Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) yesterday in Badagry, Lagos, joined those of other security agencies on a joint exercise to address security issues.
Customs Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the NCS Seme Border Command, Deputy Superintendent of Customs Ernest Olotah, told SHIPS & PORTS DAILY that the exercise, ” a route march”, is aimed at enlightening the public that the job of securing the nation is a collaborative effort of both the military, paramilitary and other security agencies.
He stated that all security agencies have a role to play at enhancing national security, noting that security should be everybody’s business.
Olottah explained that the “route march”, which is a monthly exercise, was spearheaded by the Nigerian Army (NA).
Other agencies that participated in yesterday’s joint exercise include the Nigerian Navy (NN), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Port Health Services and Quarantine Services, among others.
