Apparently displeased by the recent gross conduct of some of its personnel against officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Dikko Inde Abdulahi has ordered the redeployment of a Deputy Comptroller that was involved in the attack to Borno State.
The redeployment of the officer to the Boko Haram ravaged state is seen as a form of punishment.
It would be recalled that some officers attached to the Mile Two terminal of the PTML Area Command of the NCS had recently invaded the Mile 2 office of LASTMA and allegedly launched a violent attack on its officials in a bid to forcefully remove the vehicle that was impounded and belonging to the deputy comptroller.
The driver of the vehicle was said to have drove against traffic at the coconut area of mile two.
The redeployment SHIPS & PORTS DAILY however gathered only affected the senior officer while others who he had mobilized to attack the LASTMA officials are still placed on ‘stand by’.
Confirming the development to SHIPS & PORTS DAILY, Public Relations Officer of the PTML Area command, Steve Okonmah said “others are still facing sanctions in the command; only one person was transferred to Borno command and he is the most senior officer”.
The NCS had in a statement it issued shortly after the incident promised to commence thorough investigation to determine the culpability of officers involved in the attack, saying any officer found guilty would be dealt with decisively.
