The Egyptian government has announced a package of incentives and discounts of up to 45% on fees for navigational aids and lighthouses for vessels calling at Egyptian ports and transiting the Suez Canal.
The initiative aims to increase the number of vessels calling at Egypt’s ports and attract major container shipping alliances to call at the country’s terminals.
The government also announced a reduction in procedures and paperwork for the transhipment of containers and bunkering.
The new incentives are also designed to stop the duplication of fees related to canal transit and other port dues.
