He said that, as a government agency, CRFFN is expected to be financially stable, noting that its problem of inadequate funding will be a thing of the past if the government helps to enforce the collection of its statutory charges.
Nwabunike said that in spite of the challenges facing the CRFFN, its present administration headed by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Sir Mike Jukwe, has done well in repositioning the face of the practice of freight forwarding in Nigeria, especially with the flag off of its enforcement programme.
He said: “The Registrar is doing great. They are not doing badly at all. All I want them to do is to go straight to the implementation of their guidelines and the principles in the Act. The Act is very clearly stipulated so whatever is in the Act let them go straight to it. That is why I am very impressed with the enforcement because those who are not real freight forwarders; those who are quacks, if the enforcement comes to be now they will separate the wheat from the chaff.”
Nwabunike also commended the Jukwe-led administration of the Council for exposing Nigerian freight forwarders to global recognition.
“CRFFN has put Nigeria map into FIATA; into WCA; into world freight forwarding. And CRFFN has integrated Nigerian freight forwarders into global freight forwarding. Apart from that our outlook and image outside is wonderful and that is exactly what I think everybody should be looking into; using what we have locally to make sure that we have a good image outside,” he said.
