The Benue State Police Command has arrested a dismissed Naval officer and two others for allegedly collecting money from unsuspecting job seekers, especially youths, under the disguise of being Naval recruitment officers.
This was contained in a release singed by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Frank Mba.
According to Mba, on February 7, 2013, at about 5pm, based on a tip-off, a team of Policemen attached to the Benue State Police Command arrested three suspected fraudsters, including Mr. Emmanuel David Audu; a dismissed Naval personnel, Mr. Adegoke Musbahu, residing at Block ‘F’, Room 20, Abacha Barracks, Abuja, who is the leader of the gang; and Mr. Idowu Abraham at Habibat Hotel, Old GRA, Makurdi.
The three suspects, according to Mba, capitalised on the gullibility and desperation of unsuspecting Nigerian youths by claiming to be Naval officers involved in recruitment exercise for the Nigerian Navy (NN).
He said at the time of their arrest, 11 persons had already been hoodwinked into believing that they were on the verge of being recruited into the Navy.
