The remains of the former Acting Managing Director of the defunct Nigerian National Shipping Line (NNSL), Captain Solomon Abiodun Omoteso will be laid to rest in his hometown in Mopa, Kogi State on Saturday October 24, 2015.
Omoteso died in Lagos on August 31 at the age of 72 after a protracted battle with illness. He is survived by a wife and four children.
Chairman, Maritime Stakeholders Committee for the burial of the deceased Master Mariner, Mrs. Margaret Onyema-Orakwusi said that before the final interment, a Night of Tribute will be held for the deceased in Lagos on October 21 and a Commendation Service at the New Estate Baptist Church, Surulere on October 22.
Thorough and fearless, Omoteso who was a Consultant to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) lived almost his entire life, fighting for maritime industry’s development and growth, particularly the advancement of professionalism in all spheres.
The Maritime Stakeholders Committee has representatives of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Nigerian Shippers Council and the Nigerian Association of Master Mariners (NAMM) as members.
Omoteso’s bossom friend and former Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Chief Adebayo Sarumi is also actively supporting the work of the committee.
