The Federal Government has revealed that the N423bn projects awarded in the Niger Delta between 2009 and 2015 are at 12 percent execution.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Uguru Usani, revealed this while briefing State House reporters on the outcome of today’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
The Late Umar Yar’Adua and Dr Good luck Jonathan were presidents within the period.
The minister said within the period under review, over N700 billion “was actually appropriated” for 427 projects in the Niger Delta.
He said while 60 percent of the funds were paid to the contractors, the impact of the executed projects on the region was eight percent.
He said the FEC resolved that defaulters be sanctioned, while some “will refund money.”
