FG Shuts Ijora-Marine Bridge for 21-Day Repairs

The Federal Government has announced a temporary closure of the Ijora-Marine Bridge in Lagos State, starting May 18, 2025, for urgent repairs lasting 21 days.

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, stated on Tuesday that the closure will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 18. Some bridge sections will be fully closed, while others will face partial closures.

The repairs involve lifting the bridge deck to replace worn-out bearings and performing critical maintenance.

She said diversions have been planned, with traffic officials deployed to ensure smooth flow.

Kesha urged residents, commuters, and business owners to plan their movements and cooperate during this period.

“Safety signs and traffic management tools will minimise disruption. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate the public’s patience,” Kesha said.
