President, National Association of Air Freight Forwarders and Consolidators (NAFFAC), Mr. Thomas Agubamah has advised freight forwarders to refrain from challenging the fiscal policies of the federal government.
Agubamah who spoke recently in Lagos when the National Institute of Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers (NIFFCB) paid a visit to the NAFFAC secretariat was reacting to a call made by the National Association of Government Approved Freight forwarders (NAGAFF) for increased funding of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). “There are certain things we at NAFFAC don’t like commenting on. NAFFAC doesn’t like commenting on fiscal policies because groups like Chambers of Commerce, NACCIMA and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria are the appropriate bodies that should look into those fiscal measures. We are like people who should carry out fiscal orders of the government. Fiscal policies should be dealt with by the appropriate organisations in Nigeria, freight forwarders should keep away from such policies.
“We do not believe that it is our business to start contesting those issues, those ones that are not fiscal in nature by the government, we contest them like some agencies that collect money for no services rendered because those charges also affect us the freight forwarders,” he said.
