As part of efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships and support digital transformation in government agencies, Galaxy Backbone Limited recently paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network (NCBN) at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation, led by Ifeatu Anafulu, Head of Marketing and Business Intelligence at Galaxy Backbone, was received by Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, the National Public Relations Officer of the Service.
Anafulu expressed appreciation for the warm reception and emphasized that Galaxy Backbone, as a government-owned ICT solutions provider, shares the Nigeria Customs Service’s vision for digital transformation.
“We recognize that Customs is undergoing a major transformation under the Trade Modernisation Project (TMP),” Anafulu stated. “As the ICT backbone for the Federal Government, we’re here to explore how our expertise in cloud storage, secure connectivity, data backup, and cybersecurity can support your evolving operational needs.”
He highlighted the critical role of efficient data management and secure communications in enabling Customs administrations to function effectively within the increasingly digital and interconnected global trade environment.
In response, Assistant Comptroller Maiwada commended the Galaxy Backbone team for their proactive approach to public sector collaboration, noting the growing importance of ICT partnerships in achieving operational excellence and transparency.
“The Nigeria Customs Service is in the midst of a comprehensive technological overhaul under the Trade Modernisation Project,” Maiwada said. “At the core of this reform is B’Odogwu—our indigenous Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), developed from the ground up.”
He explained that B’Odogwu is envisioned as a fully integrated digital ecosystem designed to streamline trade processes, reduce manual interventions, and promote accountability through data-driven operations.
“Our aim goes beyond automation—we are pursuing true modernisation, anchored on local innovation, tailored to Nigeria’s unique trade environment, and committed to solving indigenous challenges,” he added.
