Zonal Coordinator, Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Victor Gbemudu has assured that the zone under his watch will meet the expectation of the Comptroller General towards the realization of this year’s revenue target.
Speaking with SHIPS &PORTS DAILY at the end of its monthly zonal meeting held at Harvey Road, Yaba, Lagos yesterday, Gbemudu said the zone is expected to generate the largest share of the Service total revenue target of N1.2 trillion, hence the need for it to restrategise to ensure its realisation.
“We are in the ember months now and volume of trade will increase so we are also restrategizing to make sure that all the revenues are collected and smuggling is also reduced to its barest minimum,” he said.
He said the seizures recorded by the Zone anti smuggling arm, the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) especially on vehicles is an indication that the officers are on alert to get those whose stock in trade is evasion of duty payment, out of business.
While calling on the media to help educate the importing public on the need to always be compliant to import regulations, the Customs boss maintained that all those who failed to comply will always forfeit their goods to the government.
