Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has warned of a further 48-hour strike by Greece’s Seamen’s Union, expected to affect cargo discharging operations for vessels calling at Piraeus, Aspropyrgos, Eleusis, Pachi and Megara ports.
The strike, beginning at 0600 today and ending at 0600 on 6 February, is accompanied by a 12-hour strike by the Towage and Salvage Crew Union of Piraeus, from 06:00 today until 06:00 on tomorrow, with a further 4 hour stoppage on tomorrow.
Vessels will be unable to berth or discharge cargoes throughout the industrial action, part of a series of recent strikes in response to the Government’s planned changes to labour and insurance rights, pensions and retirement ages.
