The Chairman of the Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN), Princess (Dr) Vicky Haastrup; the President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju; and the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, have sent warm congratulatory messages to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on the occasion of his 70th birthday on Sunday, 29th September 2024.
In her message, Princess Haastrup highlighted the Minister’s exceptional leadership and transformative contributions to Nigeria’s marine and blue economy.
“On this momentous occasion of your 70th birthday, members of STOAN extend our warmest congratulations. Your visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to developing Nigeria’s marine and blue economy have been extraordinary. Under your stewardship, you have spearheaded initiatives that harness our vast marine resources for sustainable economic growth,” she said.
Princess Haastrup further commended Oyetola for his efforts in strengthening maritime security, expanding port infrastructure, and fostering economic diversification and job creation through the blue economy.
“Your leadership, marked by integrity and foresight, continues to inspire many. As you celebrate this milestone, may you be blessed with continued wisdom and strength to further elevate our nation’s marine sector,” the STOAN Chairman stated.
She added that Oyetola’s leadership and contributions continue to resonate across the industry, reinforcing his legacy as a driving force in Nigeria’s marine and blue economy.
Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Director General of NIMASA, took to his X handle to express his best wishes, saying, “On this special day, I want to wish you a very happy birthday! Your leadership, dedication, and commitment have been truly inspiring. It is a privilege to work alongside someone as visionary as you.”
Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, President-General of MWUN, also praised the Minister’s achievements, describing him as a “silent achiever” whose vast knowledge has facilitated innovations that have positively impacted the maritime industry.
“The union will continue to identify with the Iragbiji-born administrator, given his immense contributions to the sector,” Adeyanju stated.
Adeyanju, who also serves as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Vice President Global of the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), recalled Oyetola’s commitment to workers’ welfare, particularly his personal involvement in the signing of the Shipping Branch NJIC for shipping sector workers.
“His pragmatic attitude and dedication to work are evident in the way he has diligently carried out his duties as Minister,” he stated.
