Barrister Heaky Dimowo has been appointed Director, Legal Services and Board Secretary at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) as the agency undertakes a major reshuffle of its management team aimed at enhancing efficiency and strengthening interdepartmental coordination.
The strategic redeployment, which affects 56 management staff, is part of the agency’s ongoing reforms to improve service delivery and operational effectiveness in line with its mandate to regulate and promote Nigeria’s maritime sector.
Announcing the changes, the Director General of NIMASA, Dr Dayo Mobereola, said the restructuring was designed to “inject new energy into the system” and foster stronger collaboration across departments.
He emphasised that the move reflects the agency’s commitment to continuous improvement and sustainable maritime development.
Under the new management structure, Moji Jimoh has been appointed Director, Administration and Human Resources, while Aishatu Jidda becomes Director, Planning, Research and Data Management Services. Isichei Osamgbi now serves as Director, SERVICOM, and Mrs Olubusola Obasanjo-Akande takes over as Director, Western Zone.
Other key appointments include Christopher Amakulo, Director, Special Duties; Gloria Anyasodo, Director, Cabotage Services; Salihu Abdullahi Yelwa, Director, Shipping Development; Nneka Obianyor, Director, Reforms Coordination and Blue Economy; Umar Ibrahim Sidi, Director, Maritime Labour Services; Dr Oma Ofodile, Director, Marine Environment Management; Buba Umar, Director, Abuja Zonal Office; and Ahmed Shittien, who has been appointed Special Adviser (Technical) to the Director General.
Mobereola commended the newly redeployed directors for their dedication and urged them to bring their expertise to bear in driving the agency’s strategic vision. He noted that the changes were not merely administrative but represent a deliberate effort to reposition NIMASA for greater impact.
According to him, “This exercise is part of our broader commitment to building a performance-driven organisation where teamwork, accountability and innovation define the way we work. It is about synergy, renewal, and delivering on our mandate to advance Nigeria’s maritime interests.”
The redeployment marks another step in NIMASA’s ongoing drive to align its internal operations with global best practices and ensure more effective oversight of the nation’s maritime domain.
