Customs Area Controller, Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Willy Egbudin has debunked report that he has been moved from the command.
Speaking in an exclusive chat with SHIPS & PORTS DAILY last weekend, Egbudin said that he did not receive any staff order from the Customs headquarters and therefore still maintains his position as the command’s helmsman at Seme.
He charged reporters to always confirm the authenticity of their reports before publishing.
Meanwhile, the command said it collected N755 million as revenue generated in the month of May.
According to a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ernest Olottah, the revenue was N43million higher than the N712million generated in April.
He attributed the increase to higher trading activities when compared to the previous month.
During the period under review, Olottah said the command also recorded 66 seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N13.9 million and a suspect arrested.
The items intercepted include rice, vehicles, narcotics, frozen poultry products and general goods.
He said the suspect would be charge to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
