The Lilypond Export Command has generated $986.4 in the first quarter of 2025 from exports.
This was disclosed at a press briefing held at the Command by Comptroller Ajibola Odusanya on Thursday.
He explained that the export value shows an increase of $750.4 which represents a 318 percent increase on what was made in 2024 which was $236.1.
On trade volume, Comptroller Ajibola stated that the Command handled 11,459 containers in the first three months of 2025 which is 5,568 containers higher than the 5,891 containers handled in the first quarter of 2024.
He categorized the exports into agricultural products, manufactured products, solid minerals and others.
He noted that agricultural produce has the highest with a total value of $596.9, manufactured goods amounted to $329.9, solid minerals amounted to $50.15 and others amounted to $9.49.
He mentioned that under the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme( NESS), a statutory payment to the Federal Government on all legitimate goods exported from Nigeria, Lilypond Command recorded $7.131 which represents 0.9 percent increase than the $7.067 recorded in the first quarter of 2024.
On Stakeholders Engagement, Comptroller Ajibola averred that the Command have engaged well with stakeholders and worked strategically with sister agencies like the National Law Drug and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS), Police, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.
He asserted that he has strengthened relationships with exporters through operating an open door policy that ensures regular interaction and seamless export trade processing, improved users experiences to attract more exporters to the Command thereby contributing to the Federal Government drive for economic diversification through exports.
He emphasized that some Nigerian exporters were among those celebrated by the service three months ago during the formal launch of the Authorized Economic Operator Scheme which reveals the growth of exports in the country especially those using Lagos Ports to ship out their goods.
He said they have always ensured a system of zero- tolerance for infraction and this has been confirmed by the seizures made and showcased last year at Apapa Port.
He urged stakeholders to be more compliant in their declarations because it leaves everyone in a win- win situation.
