A.P. Moller–Maersk, the owner of the world’s second largest container shipping line, has announced a sweeping set of leadership changes as it positions the group for the next phase of its transformation into an integrated global logistics provider.
At the centre of the reshuffle is the planned departure of Chief Financial Officer and Executive Board member Patrick Jany, who will step down in the first quarter of 2026 after several years overseeing the group’s finances during a period of significant strategic change.
Jany will remain in post through the year-end closing process and the publication of Maersk’s annual report, scheduled for 5 February, after which the leadership transition will formally take effect.
He will be succeeded by Robert Emi, a seasoned finance executive with deep roots in the global logistics industry. Emi most recently served as Chief Financial Officer at Dachser and previously held senior roles at Panalpina and Kuehne & Nagel. His appointment reflects Maersk’s sustained focus on expanding its logistics and services business beyond traditional container shipping, a strategy that has reshaped the group in recent years.
Alongside the change at board level, Maersk is also reconfiguring its regional leadership structure with effect from the start of 2026, a move the company says is designed to sharpen execution and support growth in an increasingly complex market environment.
Under the new structure, Ditlev Blicher, currently head of the Asia–Pacific region, will assume the role of Regional President for North America. Scott Andrew Elliot, presently Chief Financial Officer for Asia–Pacific, will step in as interim Regional President for the region, ensuring continuity as Maersk reviews its long-term leadership needs there.
In another significant shift, Charles van der Steene, Maersk’s current Regional President for North America, will become Regional Managing Director for the India subcontinent, Middle East and Africa. He will replace Richard Morgan, who is set to leave the company after a lengthy career with the group.
In Europe, Guillaume Sauzedde has been promoted to Regional Managing Director after joining Maersk in 2024 as Head of Logistics and Services for the region. He will succeed Aymeric Chandavoine, who is also departing the company.
Antonio Dominguez will continue unchanged in his role as Regional Managing Director for Latin America, providing stability in a market that remains strategically important for the group.
Announcing the changes, Maersk Chief Executive Officer Vincent Clerc said the reconfiguration builds on years of strong regional execution and reflects the company’s confidence in its strategic direction.
He noted that Maersk’s regions have driven growth, strengthened customer focus and successfully integrated acquired businesses, creating a solid platform for the future.
Clerc added that the new leadership structure is intended to help Maersk deliver with greater speed and agility as global trade patterns evolve and customers increasingly demand end-to-end logistics solutions.
