Man allegedly steals car part at Kirikiri

A 39-year-old man, Ebere Ameh, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing the car part of a Lexus Jeep at Kirikiri Prison Barrack.

Ameh is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 17, 2019 at about 1pm at Kirikiri Prison Barrack, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired with others at large to steal one manifold catalytic of GX470 Lexus Jeep valued at N300,000 property of one Mbakwe Charles,” Babatope said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287(5)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate Enitan Ojudun granted him N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till November 1, 2019 for mention.
