A 39-year-old man, identified as Bashiru Kolawole was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly buying a stolen truck in Lagos.
Kolawole is facing one-count charge to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 21, 2018 at about 10am at Babaginda Road, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.
“The defendant paid the sum of N760,000 to one Moruf Adeniran being part payment for the purchase of one Mack truck body with registration number APP 84 XD knowing same to be a stolen property,” Obongha said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with two responsible sureties each in like sum.
The sureties according to the Magistrate must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and furnish the court with six months’ bank statements.
She adjourned the case till September 6, 2018 for mention.
It would be recalled that Adeniran was arraigned in court yesterday for allegedly conspiring together with four others to steal one Mack Truck with registration number APP 84 XD valued at N12 million property of one Range Investment Nigeria Limited.
