By Jite Eriabie

A worker died on board one of the drillships operated by Brazil’s oil and gas producer, Petrobras.

The accident occurred on Petrobras America’s drillship Petrobras 10000 in the Gulf of Mexico on December 2.

Sources said medical assistance was provided immediately to the man but he died.

No other details have been disclosed except that the man was an employee of the company Spencer Ogden.

Relevant authorities have been informed and an investigation into the accident has been launched, Petrobras said.

The 2009-built vessel, owned by Switzerland-based company Transocean, is scheduled to remain in the US Gulf of Mexico until January 18 before it leaves for Brazil.
