A 37-year-old man, Loveday Efe, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly damaging the windscreen and one side mirror of Hyundai SUV in Apapa.
Efe is facing a two-count charge of malicious damage and threat to kill.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 2, 2019 at about 7:30am at Rich Trust Global Hotel, Apapa.
“The defendant unlawfully and maliciously damaged the windscreen and one side mirror of Hyundai Jeep valued at N87,000 and N8,000 respectively property of one Samuel Ugwumba,” Ekpo said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant threatened to kill one Samuel Ugwumba.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 339(1) and 56(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to deposit N10,000 into the Chief Registrar’s account and furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till August 12, 2019 for mention.
