Man in court for stealing truck parts at KLT

India arrests another Nigerian for hard drugs

 

A 44-year-old man, Murtala Razak, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing truck parts at Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Phase 1, Apapa. 

Razak is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. 

The port prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 11, 2020 at about 12:45pm at Royal Salt in KLT Phase 1, Apapa. 

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal a truck rim, vacuum air and one alternator valued at N63,000,” Esebamen said. 

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate O.A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with six months bank statements and evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government. 

She adjourned the matter till February 10, 2020 for mention.
